KCMBF Liberty and Justice Gala Raises More Than $80,000

The 2017 Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation (KCMBF) Liberty & Justice Gala raised more than $80,000 for the Foundation. Dysart Taylor attorney Meghan Litecky sits on the gala’s board of directors.

The KCMBF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1979 and is the charitable arm of KCMBA.

KCMBF believes that justice should be possible for everyone. Every day we serve the legal profession and the public through programs that advance justice and the understanding of law and its impact on society.

Dysart Taylor to Participate in KCMBA Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair

Heartland Diversity Legal Job Fair logoAssociates Kate Alfaro and Meghan Litecky will interview law students at the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s Heartland Diversity Job Fair. The primary purpose of the event is to increase the participation of under-represented groups in the practice of law in Kansas City. Dysart Taylor strongly believes that the inclusion of diversity in the legal profession enriches us all.

Katherine Bonner Alfaro Joins Dysart Taylor

Kate AlfaroDysart Taylor Cotter McMonigle & Montemore, P.C. is pleased to announce that Katherine Bonner Alfaro joined the firm in September 2015.

Kate’s practice focuses on civil litigation. During law school, she interned with federal and state prosecutor’s offices including the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office and the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas. Prior to law school, she gained extensive experience handling complex cases as an analyst for a federal agency and as an intern for the Attorney General of Texas in the Crime Victim Services and Legal Appeals Division. She is a recipient of the Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service as well as the Council of the Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency Award for Excellence.

Kate earned a B.A. in history and environmental studies from Southwestern University in Texas where she was the president of the Alpha Xi Delta Women’s Fraternity, and she attained her J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law where she completed more than 200 pro bono hours. She’ll be sworn in as a member of the Missouri Bar Association on Oct. 2, and she’s a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Junior League of Kansas City.

Missouri Bar Fall Meeting

Amanda Pennington Ketchum will attend the Missouri Bar Fall Committee Meetings. She will be at the Young Lawyers’ Section (YLS) Council dinner on Thursday night, and the YLS Council meeting on Friday. Mandy will begin her term as Vice-Chair for the Transportation Law Committee at its meeting on Friday afternoon. For more information, go to the Missouri Bar Fall Committee Meetings website.

Mandy is the Immediate Past Chair of Missouri Bar’s YLS Council where she had been serving on its Executive Committee since 2007. She has chaired and vice-chaired several different committees during her service to The Missouri Bar, as well as served on two different task forces.

She serves as a board member of the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City and is currently its Secretary and editor of its newsletter. In May of 2009, Mandy graduated from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s Leadership Academy and was named the KCMBA’s Young Lawyer of the Year in 2010. She is also a board member of Lawyers Encouraging Academic Performance (LEAP).

Mandy’s practice focuses on civil litigation, primarily personal injury and employment litigation. Prior to joining Dysart Taylor, Mandy operated her own firm with a law partner for four years, focusing mainly on personal injury litigation, as well as business litigation. Having owned her own business helps her understand the concerns of small business owners and build strong relationships with her clients.
